In addition to the need for interpreters and technology, many people who are deafblind require the services of a Support Service Provider (SSP). An SSP is a person who acts as a sighted guide and uses appropriate communication techniques. The SSP must be able to convey visual and audio information in an effective manner, and help orient the individual who is deafblind to a new environment.
VADB is looking for people to volunteer as SSPs at our events or with individual deafblind persons in the community. Please contact us if you are interested.
Please support VADB by becoming a member. Membership dues are only $10. There are two types of members: "Active" (deafblind Virginians) and "Associate" (everyone else)
To become a member, please download a copy of the VADB Brochure (under the Donations Tab here on the website) and mail as instructed.
